Matt Friedman
Chair of the Board of Directors, UN Youth Australia
After being involved in high school for a few years as a delegate, Matt began volunteering with UN Youth in 2015. So much of what he has learnt in the last five years has come from the HR and welfare related positions that he has held in both the NSW division and in the National organisation. Matt also was the Deputy-convenor of two International Activities, taking young people on an educational tour of Europe and Timor-Leste.
Matt believes that being on the Board will give him a different angle of understanding the UN Youth to make decisions that benefit the whole organisation, both now and into the future, where he is looking forward to having the opportunity to innovate, consolidate, and review. Some projects I’m particularly excited for are the creation of our second Strategic Plan, and the formation of a Reconciliation Working Group.
Outside of UN Youth Matt runs ‘2 Birds 1 Bee’, a sex and relationships education project addressing topics that aren’t covered in the curriculum with young people, parents, and organisations. Matt is also currently studying a Bachelor of Arts and Economics at Sydney University.
